8 Weeks. 1 Vision. Endless Lessons đź’Ľ | Wrapping Up at I2N
As I sit down to write this, I find myself feeling a strange mix of pride, exhaustion, gratitude — and a little nervous excitement. Week 8 at I2N has just wrapped up, and with it, an incredibly transformative chapter in my entrepreneurial journey.
🌱 From Idea to Action: The Early Days
When I first entered the I2N entrepreneurship program, I came in with a simple but powerful idea: a digital receipt system that could streamline the way we handle transactions, reduce paper waste, and make record-keeping easier for both customers and businesses.
What I didn’t come in with?
A clear roadmap. A tested pitch. A real understanding of how to validate a market.
But over the past eight weeks, that changed — radically.
đź’ˇ Learning by Doing (And Sometimes Failing)
Each week pushed me further out of my comfort zone. From practicing pitch decks to conducting customer discovery interviews, I was challenged to test my assumptions in the real world.
One of the biggest lessons I learned?
Your idea isn’t enough — your execution is everything.
And that starts by understanding the people you're building for.
Thanks to I2N, I ran targeted LinkedIn ad campaigns to attract my ideal users and test messaging. The feedback I got wasn’t always what I expected, but it gave me what I needed: real-world insight. That’s helped guide the MVP we’re building now.
🛠️ Building the MVP: The Current Stage
Right now, the digital receipt system project is in active MVP development. After dozens of interviews, wireframes, and user flows, we're honing in on a version that solves one specific pain point with clarity and simplicity.
Is it perfect? Not yet.
Is it progress? Absolutely.
We’re not just building a product — we’re building a foundation.
👥 Gratitude for the People Who Made This Possible
Entrepreneurship is often described as a lonely path — but the I2N program proved that it doesn’t have to be.
I’m incredibly thankful for the mentors who offered their time, wisdom, and feedback:
Eric
Richard
Kelly
Mathew
And of course, to the University of Newcastle and the entire I2N team — thank you for creating a space where early-stage founders like me can grow, fail safely, and keep going.
🎢 The Founder Rollercoaster
This journey has been everything I expected — and nothing like I imagined.
There were highs: the first time a user said “I need this.”
And there were lows: pitch nights that didn’t go as planned, ideas that got scrapped, and moments I questioned whether I was cut out for this.
But through it all, I kept showing up. And I learned that resilience is just as valuable as innovation.
🌟 What’s Next
The road ahead is still long — but it’s clearer now.
In the next few months, I’ll be:
Launching and testing our MVP
Refining the customer journey based on feedback
Exploring partnerships with small businesses and retailers
Continuing to share updates (and lessons) with this amazing community
I don’t know where this startup will end up, but I know this:
The I2N program gave me more than knowledge — it gave me momentum.
đź’¬ Final Thoughts
To anyone thinking about joining a startup program like I2N — do it.
You won’t leave with all the answers.
But you’ll leave with better questions, a stronger network, and a deeper understanding of what it takes to build something that matters.
Thank you, I2N, for the ride of a lifetime — and for helping me realize that even in the chaos of the founder rollercoaster, there’s clarity to be found… if you’re brave enough to keep going.
